Top 5 Networking Tips for 2019 ICMA EXPO

Even in today’s digital world, nothing beats a live meeting or conference. Tip #2: Prepare Your Elevator Speech

During the conference, use LinkedIn to connect with the people you meet. You may also want to tweet your new acquaintances and say it was nice meeting them. In addition to making connections, you will get activity, retweets and follows—especially if you use the event hashtag #AllAboutTheCard. Get sharing. Take selfies. Tag your new friends. Tweet your favorite quotes, new findings and takeaways.

Tip #5: Don’t Ask, Offer
When you are meeting people at the EXPO, don’t think about what you need or what you want to ask for. Instead focus on what you can offer them. How can you help card manufacturers at the EXPO? What do you have to offer to card association members? You’ll be surprised how well that will work out for you. That is how you make lasting connections with potential business contacts.
